Days

Antananarivo to Antsirabe

Departure for Antsirabe, with a stop at the Ambatofotsy market. Discover the rural world of the Highlands with their endless rice paddies and traditional houses along the way. Lunch in Behenjy. Stop in Ambatolampy to visit an aluminum pot-making factory and pass by a foosball table manufacturing workshop. In the afternoon, continue towards Antsirabe while admiring the beautiful landscapes (vegetable sellers, Malagasy art, etc.). Upon arrival in the “City of Water,” explore the town by rickshaw or bicycle.

Antsirabe to Ranomafana

Departure from Ambositra to reach Ranomafana. The landscape is similar to that of the East, and it also has its primary forest. A brief stop to admire an impressive waterfall. Upon arrival, a dip in the thermal pool is a must.

Ranomafana

In the morning, departure for a hike in the national park to see Madagascar’s endemic flora and fauna. Choice of circuit. Free afternoon.

Fianarantsoa

Farewell to the eastern landscape and its primary forest. Return to the highlands and its scenery. Arrival in Fianarantsoa, with a walking tour of the old town. Visit to the photo studio of the famous photographer Pierrot Men.

Fianarantsoa to Ranohira

On the road to Ranohira, stop in Ambalavao to visit an Antaimoro paper-making workshop and a silk weaving studio. A brief stop at the Anja Community Reserve. Option to take a hike to see lemurs and chameleons.

Ranohira to Isalo

The village of Ranohira is the starting point for all excursions in Isalo National Park, an immense eroded Jurassic massif. The diversity of landscapes, fauna, and flora makes this park a must-visit in Madagascar.

Isalo to Tuléar

The RN7 remains undeniably the richest route for an initial exploration of Madagascar. A must-see is the “Queen of Isalo,” sculpted by nature and eroded over time, reigning over the vast Southern universe. Also pass through Ilakaka, the sapphire city. The city of Tuléar is 1000 km from the capital, Antananarivo. It is crossed by the Tropic of Capricorn, which explains the prevailing heat.

Tuléar to Mangily

Arrival in Tuléar, then head to Ifaty. Ifaty is the seaside resort of Tuléar. However, most of the hotels and restaurants are actually located in Mangily, which is the ideal base for exploring the region. There are many activities to enjoy in Mangily: Visit the turtle village, explore the Reniala baobab forest, go scuba diving or snorkeling, take a pirogue excursion on the Ranobe lagoon to discover the Ifaty coral reef, and experience a typical Malagasy ride in a zebu cart. You can also enjoy a pirogue cruise with the Vezo to discover the surrounding villages. Or simply do nothing, enjoy a massage, and bask in the sun.

Mangily (IFATY)

Ifaty refers to the seaside resort of Tuléar. However, most of the hotels and restaurants are actually located in Mangily, which is the ideal base for exploring the region.

Departure for Ambatomilo 72 km Discovery Ambatomilo is 4 hours of sandy tracks away. The beach of Ambatomilo is particularly beautiful, with its fine sand and crystal-clear waters.

Ambalavao is the second largest zebu market, and you can explore the Antaimoro paper-making workshop. The region also has several vineyards. Trek in the Andringitra, Tsaranoro Valley.

Return from Ambalavao to Ambositra

Formerly known as the City of Roses, it is renowned as the source of the traditional zafimaniry, You will find numerous carved objects and marquetry made from local forest resources.

Return from Ambositra to Antananarivo

The final day will start with an early departure from Ambositra to reach Antananarivo. The journey will be relaxed, with a few stops to enjoy the landscapes one last time before arriving in the capital by the end of the day.
