the Itinerary

Here is a preview of the route on this circuit.

Days

Departure from Antananarivo to Andasibe

Located about 150 km from Antananarivo, Andasibe is a small town in Madagascar, a stop on the road to the East. Andasibe is at the gates of the Analamazaotra Special Reserve and the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park.

Once you arrive, you will likely stay at the Feon’ny Ala hotel, a must-visit in Andasibe. The hotel has around fifty comfortable and traditional bungalows and a restaurant where you can enjoy a wide range of Malagasy specialties.

Visit to wildlife parks

The second day of this itinerary is dedicated to visiting wildlife parks. First, in the Mantadia National Park where lemurs live in the wild, you can encounter groups of Indri Indri, Bamboo Lemurs, Propithecus fulvus, and more.

Several circuits are possible, lasting from about 1 to 3 hours. Then, the day continues with a visit to the private reserve Vakona. Here, in addition to lemurs, you can see many crocodiles, turtles, chameleons, etc.

Departure from Andasibe to Antsirabe

The journey takes a day, passing through Antananarivo. The road starts in Antananarivo and goes through urban and peri-urban areas.

Lunches at Behenjy, which produces Malagasy duck foie gras. You can also taste one of Madagascar’s popular dishes: “Romazava,” a meat stew with vegetables and herbs. It is usually served with rice.

The road then passes through villages and small towns like Ambatolampy.

Continuing towards Antsirabe, the road offers increasingly mountainous and hilly landscapes. It is also possible to see Malagasy vegetable sellers.

Departure for Morondava

The road to Morondava begins by crossing the countryside on the plateaus. The fields and rice paddies then give way to more arid, yet equally spectacular canyons.

Night in Morondava

A visit to the Fishermen’s Village will allow you to admire the beautiful bay with its sandy banks, the fishing dhows and schooners in the distance, and even some whales from mid-June to mid-September. This beautiful day will finally end with a visit to the splendid Avenue of the Baobabs at sunset, these natural Champs-Élysées.

Return to Antsirabe

The duration of the journey is one day.

Visit to Antsirabe in the morning and return to Antananarivo in the afternoon.

In Antsirabe, you can enjoy the beauty of the city by taking a pousse-pousse ride or cycling to discover tourist attractions such as thermal springs, churches, local markets, and museums.

Antsirabe is particularly known for its craft workshops. Artisans demonstrate the making of objects from zebu horn, embroidery, and many others.
