Days

Departure from Tana to Antsirabe

The route from Antananarivo to Antsirabe is one of the most popular in Madagascar. It connects the Malagasy capital, Antananarivo, to the south, located about 170 km from the capital.

The journey begins in Antananarivo and passes through urban and suburban areas.

Lunch in Behenjy:
Enjoy a meal in Behenjy, known for its Malagasy duck foie gras. You can also try a popular Malagasy dish, “Romazava,” a meat stew with vegetables and herbs, usually served with rice.

The road then passes through villages and small towns like Ambatolampy.

Continuing towards Antsirabe, the road offers increasingly mountainous and hilly landscapes. You can also see Malagasy vegetable sellers along the way.

Once you arrive in Antsirabe, you can enjoy the beauty of the town by taking a rickshaw or cycling to explore the tourist attractions such as hot springs, churches, local markets, and museums. Antsirabe is especially known for its artisan workshops. The artisans there demonstrate the making of objects from zebu horn, embroidery, and much more.

Departure for Morondava

The road to Morondava begins with a journey through the countryside on the plateaus. The fields and rice paddies then give way to more arid but equally spectacular canyons.

Visit to Tsingy de Bemaraha

This day of travel is dedicated to visiting the Tsingy:
  • In the morning, visitors will take a canoe tour and stop to explore caves. Be sure to bring flashlights to fully enjoy the caves. In the afternoon, visitors can choose from several hikes in the Tsingy of varying lengths.

  • The Tsingy de Bemaraha are undoubtedly one of the most marvelous rock formations on our planet and a must-see when visiting the west coast of Madagascar. The Tsingy were formed millions of years ago by monsoon rains that carved the limestone into these needle-like shapes. Since 1990, the Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Tsingy, which are quite difficult to access, should be visited with a guide and appropriate equipment.
  • While the hike to access the Tsingy is not difficult, it is not recommended for those with a fear of heights.

As you cross picturesque landscapes, prepare to discover one of Madagascar’s most beautiful reserves. Kirindy promises an immersion in local wildlife and flora, with memorable encounters with rare and endemic species.

Kirindy Mitea National Park showcases the typical fauna and flora of southern and western Madagascar. Visitors may encounter numerous lemurs and their predator, the fossa.

Departure for Miandrivazo: Miandrivazo is a stopover town on the way to Antsirabe. The Mahajiro Falls are located 4 km to the east, along an unmaintained track.
